NO OWL!

Professor Theodora Leventouri was born in Greece, and obtained her B. S. and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Athens. She was an Associate Professor at the University of Athens when she took a temporary position as Visiting Professor at FAU. During that time she became the senior researcher on a half million-dollar program funded by DARPA. She headed the group that produced the first high-temperature YBCO superconductor in the state of Florida. She studied preferred orientation, phonons, critical and current density of bulk high-Tc superconductors. She was hired as an Associate Professor of Physics at FAU, and was later made a Full Professor. She studies the physical properties of apatite based natural, synthetic and magnetic biomaterials, and the development of nanoscale magnetic materials for biomedical applications. In 2010 Dr. Leventouri founded and is the Director of a Masters Degree Program in Medical Physics (Professional Science Masters in Medical Physics, PSMMP) within the Physics Department. The PSMMP is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP). Dr. Leventouri is also the Director of the Center for Biomedical and Materials Physics (CBAMP).
